Janské Lázně – a town often referred to as a curious gateway to the highest mountains in the Czech Republic, the Krkonoše Mountains (Giant Mountains). It is located at a height of 616–1299 m above sea level.

The Vesna Children´s Sanatorium is located in a beautiful and quiet natural environment which gives the sanatorium an expressly mountain character. It provides spa treatment to children and teenagers suffering from respiratory diseases, neurological diseases and musculoskeletal system diseases. The sanatorium has 7 wards divided according to the age of children, two rehabilitation departments, a primary school and a kindergarten. All components of therapeutic care are provided in these premises. Balneology is divided into two groups according to age and includes a modern thermal pool with a lifting bottom. Barrier-free access and interior fittings ensure comfort even to immobile or otherwise disabled children.

Spa location

Janské Lázně – a town often referred to as a curious gateway to the highest mountains in the Czech Republic, the Krkonoše Mountains (Giant Mountains). It is located at a height of 616–1299 m above sea level. Each visitor preferring active relaxation in nature can always find something to do – Krkonoše National Park, ski centres and unforgettable tourist sites in the vicinity. The fresh mountain air has a beneficial effect on all people who like sports activities. The spa facility Janské Lázně is right in the middle of the town Janské Lázně. In 1935, upon gaining experience from the Warm Springs Spa in the USA, the first European sanatorium for the treatment of poliomyelitis was founded. Thanks to the important curative resource – thermal carbonic springs of 27 °C – and good rehabilitation methods the spa has become a place where people can improve and recover their health, even after suffering the most serious musculoskeletal system diseases and central and periphery neurological system diseases. Guests can also have unforgettable experiences visiting the magnificent Neorenaissance colonnade with Nouveau style ornaments, the park with peaceful and lonely paths, and taking in the charm of pleasing cafés and huts in the woods.

The town itself and the surrounding area is a perfect place for almost all kinds of sports. There are ski centres with ski lifts and cableways, downhill slopes, cross-country ski trails, a miniature golf course, a swimming pool, sports equipment to hire, and a thick network of cycling tracks; all these services are available for the guests at Jánské Lázně.

Krkonoše National Park: A nature reserve protected by the government with a number of popular entertainment facilities and ski centres.
Obří důl – Kovárna: A medieval mine, well-known already in the 15th century. Since the beginning of the 17th century until the year 1876, copper and other metals were extracted from here. Visitors may see mining equipment and tools that the medieval miners used for ore extraction. Jan Šverma Mine – Žacléř: Ore was extracted from this mine from 1953–1993. Since 1999, the area has been open to visitors, giving them the opportunity to observe how the ore was extracted and what tools were used.
Hostinné: The former Franciscan church presents an exhibition of classic art, including some copies of originals that have not survived to the present day.
Pramen řeky Úpy: Peat mud from which the Úpa River springs, one the largest peat bogs of the Krkonoše watershed, high mountain meadows where dwarf pine trees have been growing.
