Czech Healing Spa Association
The Czech Healing Spa Association (CHSA) was established in 1995 as a professional association of medical spas with the aim of maintaining and guaranteeing the therapeutic standards of spa companies. The association's mission is to cultivate the environment and create conditions for the maintenance and development of healing spas in the Czech Republic and to defend the common and individual interests of its members. At home, the CHSA is a leading partner of the Czech Ministry of Health.
Currently, the CHSA has 48 members, including 46 medical spas, which account for more than two-thirds of all spa beds in the country and represent 95% of all spa treatments covered by public health insurance. All spas affiliated with the CHSA are accredited medical spas, including a connection to the public health system, and therefore meet strict criteria for treatment, catering and accommodation. Healing spas use local natural therapeutic resources approved by the Ministry of Health for treatment, which distinguishes these facilities from other spas or accommodation facilities located in spa towns. It is precisely this emphasis on the therapeutic aspect that has earned Czech spas worldwide renown.
The CHSA is a member of the European Spas Association (ESPA), based in Brussels, whose main mission is to maintain therapeutic spas across Europe and guarantee their quality. The association is also a member of the Czech Tourism Union (CTU).
The CHSA's statutes, as approved by the association's general meeting held on 7 April 2022, can be found here
